Introducing APGO's Basic Clinical Skills Curriculum Modules
The APGO UMEC is proud to make available this clinical skiills curriculum. These modules, written by members of APGO's Undergraduate Medical Education Committee (UMEC), are designed as a guide for teaching basic clinical and surgical skills to third-year medical students in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Most of the skills are based on recommendations from the AAMC Project on the Clinical Education of Medical Students. Others were gathered from a review of published curricular guides and from the opinions of UMEC members.
Although it is implicitly assumed that not all medical students will acquire proficiency in many of these skills, the modules are intended to be comprehensive, so they can be used as resources for curriculum development.
The exercises are simple and can be based on inexpensive models that use readily available materials. Resources for more elaborate and expensive high-fidelity models are also provided.
