EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
eLearn
The following resources can be found under eLearn, the electronic resources section of the site:
NEW Medical Student Educational Objectives, 9th edition
Objectives and Case Studies
We are pleased to provide the 9th edition of the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives. The Objectives are revisited on a regular basis to ensure their relevance, importance and usefulness in assisting with the development of obstetrics and gynecology clinical clerkship curricula. To develop this major revision, the APGO Undergraduate Medical Education Committee (UMEC) edited the 8th edition to ensure coverage of significant changes in the field. A team of ob-gyn clerkship directors and medical educators from the U.S. and Canada have had input into the current edition and its format with the goal of making these objectives as useful as possible for clerkship directors, faculty and medical students.
An Ob-Gyn Student Logbook has also been developed as an example of how to incorporate the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives into a logbook/tracking system. The logbook utilizes the core 17 objectives as outlined in the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives 9th Edition as a framework for the various patient-care activities that a clerkship director may require of their students on the ob-gyn clerkship. Using this logbook assures that students are exposed to the essential educational objectives established by the APGO Undergraduate Medical Education Committee (UMEC).
Hard copies of these items may be ordered in the APGO Bookstore.
Clinical Cases for Teaching and Learning
The APGO UMEC produced 34 teaching cases, linked to the Priority 1 Objectives in the previous version (8th Edition) of the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives. Each includes a clinical case for discussion, with a preceptor handout with objectives, clinical case and discussion questions, and essential points to be covered, references and a student handout, with a clinical case and discussion questions. (The Clinical Cases are being revised for release in 2010-11.)
